Nationals – Events: Official and Unofficial

With Cyclocross Nationals headed to Verona, Wisconsin there is lots of great events to go along with the racing. There are plenty of official events being organized by Team Sports Inc but other events are starting to spring up as well. MadCross is attempting to compile a list of all the happenings so contact us if something is missing.

Wed, Jan 4 from 7-9pm – Shimano Di2 Interactive Workshop
Shimano Cycling will be at Rocket Bike Studios at 403 Venture Court in Verona to show off some of their Di2 Electric Shifting. First 25 to RSVP will get the opportunity to test Di2 and talk to the Shimano staff about anything you wish. Please RSVP to Rocket Bikes at the following email:rocketbicyclestudios@gmail.com

Now in February – NotNationals
What is the 2012 Cyclocross NotNationals? The obvious is that it is not nationals so don’t expect any jerseys, lap cards or race officials. NotNationals is about the revelry, the pure enjoyment of the race, the beer and the camaraderie. Racing at the national championships isn’t for everyone but racing NotNationals can be. Full details revealed at appropriate times at NotNationals. NotNationals is NOT actually happening Jan 5 – postponed for now but watch the website for revelry updates! Looks like February fun instead!

Thurs, Jan 5 from 7-9:30pm – Rocket Bike Studios Happy Hour
Rocket Bike Studios at 403 Venture Court in Verona has invited some of their manufacturers and representatives to come and show off their 2012 product line on Thursday. Come see product from Alchemy Bicycles, Guru, Fizik, Hed, SRAM, Saris Cycling, Vittoria Cycling Shoes, Reynolds, Hincapie, Luna, and more. Alchemy Bicycles will have their C3X on hand for everyone to check out and everyone will have great items. More info.

Thurs, Jan 5 from 7:30 to 10:30pm – Happy Hour with NorCalCyclingNews.com and CX Magazine
Join CX Magazine and NorCal Cycling News for a real Wisconsin style happy hour at Natt Spil on King St (moved from Smokeys). RSVP and if you are Media, a 2012 national champion or riding in the elite race email them directly at norcal@love.com, or seek them out at the event and they’ll hook you up with a VIP experience. Probably something like a pat on the back and a Bloody Mary but who doesn’t want a free drink and a little love. Natt Spilis located at 211 King Strett in Madison. More info.

Thurs, Jan 5 at 8 pm – Bike Films
The Majestic Theater in downtown Madison will be the host to a number of bicycle films including On Time, Parasol, Jitensha, and Jour de Fete. Cost is $10. More info.

Fri, Jan 6 at 5pm – Women and Cyclocross
Madison’s women cyclocross racers invite anyone interested in getting more women out racing and talking about how to make cyclocross better to Machinery Row Bicycles at 601 Williamson Street in Madison to talk, socialize, and strategize. Local Madison women racers will be joined by top pros including Mo Bruno Roy, Sue Butler, Meredith Miller, Teal Stetson Lee and more. Snacks, raffle prizes and good conversation. More info.

Fri, Jan 6 from 6-10pm – Veldrijden Nacht
Join Machinery Row Bicycles located at 601 Williamson Street in Madison for Cyclocross Night aka Veldrijden Nacht. Come out to celebrate cyclocross with top pros including Jonathan Page, Katie Compton, and Ryan Trebon. Don’t miss out on the excellent Belgian evening of cyclocross, beer, frites and mussels.

Fri, Jan 6 from 6-9pm – Bike Art Extravaganza and Photo Exhibition
Come out to Tenney Plaza at 3 S. Pinckney Street in Madison to see the bike-art installation featuring Taliah lampert (Bicycle Paintings, Brooklyn) and Pete DiAntoni (cog Magazine, Milwaukee). While you’re out and about downtown stop by Natt Spil at 211 King Street to see the MadCross photo exhibit which will feature 10 years of Wisconsin cyclocross racing. More info.

Sat, Jan 7 from 6-9pm – Art Pedaler
Come on out to Revolution Cycles at 2330 Atwood Avenue in Madison for the 3rd Annual Art Pedaler featuring affordable bicycle-themed prints by local artists. This artistic celebration of bicycles features prints, photos, sculptural work, jewelry and paintings.

Sat, Jan 7 from 8pm-2am – Bicicle Party and Winter Fashion Show
This Party and Fashion Show will showcase a variety of creations to keep people riding throughout the season. There also be music and tons of fun. All this fun will take place will be happening at the High Noon Saloon at 701 E Washington in Madison. Cost is $5. More info.

Sun, Jan 8 from 8pm-Midnight – After PARTY
The racing is over but the partying isn’t. Join the fun at The Great Dane Pub at 123 E. Doty Street in Downtown Madison. Come join cyclocross racers from around the country and unwind before you travel back home. More info.

Thurs, Jan 5 from 9am to 4pm through Sun, Jan 8 from 9am to Noon – Specialized Rider’s Club
Specialized is bringing their Semi with walls, heaters and plenty of good cheer and the Specialized Riders Club will be open during Nationals. There will be heaters, coffee, hot cocoa, free neutral race support, free massage, SWAG and more! All for Specialized Riders (so maybe you should ask for one for the Holidays)!
